THIS SITE IS MOVING TO ANOTHER LOCATION:

This site has moved to another blog called, ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY. There will me no further posts to this site. The new site will continue so show my regular shooting progress, but will also contain other topics on photography, such as hands-on equipment and software reviews, historical information on photography, and much more.

When it was set up, the DAILY STOCK SHOT PROJECT was supposed to be a one year project. Last year I extended the project another year due to the popularity of the site, but now it is time to move on.

If you wish to continue following, please visit my new blog at ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY and save it as a new link.

I took my bike on the ferry to Governors Island where I found some new vistas of Manhattan to photograph.

This image shows lower Manhattan in the center, the financial district of Jersey City on the left, and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges on the right.  The Panorama was assembled from five photos taken with a Nikon D800, and as a result the final image file is very large at 250mb.

In this view and the two below I juxtaposed scenes on the island with the city or Statue of Liberty in the background.

The facade of the Battery Maritime Building where the ferry leaves for Governors Island.  It is a Beaux-arts style building constructed of wrought and cast iron in 1909.

Yes, Manhattan really is an island.
